Country Mom here.
My hubby and I are finally sharing our big news! We're going to become foster parents!
We are signed up to take our classes in August and after a home study and some preparations, we're hoping to have our first foster child in our home in early 2011- if not sooner!
This is something we have both felt that the Lord has put on our hearts, and we're anxious to share so much love with a new little person. We're planning to take children from 10months to 3 years old, but probably just one child at a time. We don't want to stretch ourselves too thin, we need to still be able to provide everything to our own children as well.
I know there will be times when watching them go will be hard, but I honestly don't think it could break my heart nearly as much as losing our precious Lila Grace.
Please say a prayer for us, I have a feeling this could be a sometimes scary, but mostly WONDERFUL experience!! :)
I am so happy for you!! Good for you and your husband!! Those kids are forever going to be changed by knowing you and you will be for knowing them

ReplyDeleteWe've thought about becoming foster parents too...but, want to wait until our little one is a bit older before committing! I'm sure it will be a rewarding experience!

ps...just stumbled upon your blog here...deeply saddened by the loss both of you moms have had to face in your lives...you are brave, courageous souls for sharing your journey here.

My family and I did fostering for awhile and it was great. We started with young ones and only one at a time. Slowely ended up with teenage girls and more then one at a time. No matter what child God brings into your home they will make a mark on your lives as well as them on you. Good luck with your new venture =) prayers and hugs!
